Our blood pressure monitor is a device used to measure blood pressure. The device we offer is composed of an inflatable cuff that is placed around the upper arm, and a mercury or aneroid manometer that is used to measure the cuff’s pressure.

The cuff is inflated to a point where it occludes the artery beneath, and then the pressure is released. As the artery begins to open, the mercury or aneroid manometer measures the pressure within the artery. High blood pressure, or hypertension, is a major risk factor for heart disease, stroke, and kidney disease. A blood pressure machine can help to identify hypertension early before it leads to serious health problems. Our BP monitor has a mercury or aneroid manometer that is used to measure the pressure. The cuff is inflated to a point where it temporarily stops the flow of blood in the artery. The mercury or aneroid manometer is then used to measure the pressure of the cuff. The pressure is then released and the process is repeated.
